Protecting national security assets from the evolving cyber threat

2012 will witness a not only record number of cyber attacks, but a diversification in both targets and methodology. As new technologies to enhance flexible working practices continue to proliferate (such as smartphone, tablets, and the move to the “cloud”), potential targets for cyber attack continue to grow across all sectors whilst current security solutions are not adequately prepared to deal with such threats.

Entering into its third year, International Cyber Security 2012 strikes a unique cord by focusing on network defence for key areas of national security. Our senior panel of international speakers, drawn from government, military and private firms critical to national security, will be speaking about their primary concerns for their networks over the next 12-18 months and what steps they are taking to secure their systems against the next generation of cyber attacks.

Key benefits of attending International Cyber Security 2012

  • Gain a holistic view of the evolving cyber threat facing national security assets with briefings from government, military and elements of critical national infrastructure, including BP, Citibank, E.On Energie and GlaxosmithKline Biologicals
  • Investigate the security challenges associated with the widespread proliferation of mobile computing devices (such as smart phones, tablets, laptops etc.), and the implications for both network and data security in your systems
  • Understand the best methodologies for identifying weak points within your network security and how to rebut attacks that manage to get through in briefings from the US Army and the Canadian Armed Forces
  • Apply lessons learnt identified in two recent large scale cyber security exercise – Germany’s LUKEX 11 and ENISA’s US-EU Cyber Response tabletop – and learn how to construct similar exercises to test your own security measures.
  • Learn about current international efforts to better coordinate information sharing and the response to cyber attacks in briefings from The European Commission, GCHQ and PWC

Obama’s Cyber Coordinator clarifies cyber policy concerns
Christopher Painter, the US Department of State’s Cyber Coordinator, sits down for a discussion of the key issues with Defence IQ’s Richard de Silva. Here, Painter addresses the White House’s cyber policy when it comes to international partnering and global network protection, and how the private sector is standing head and shoulders above all others when it comes to securing our critical infrastructure.
